President Trump on Thursday said he was sending his love to the Jewish community in Michigan following an attack on a Detroit-area synagogue earlier in the day.
"I want to send our love to the Michigan Jewish community and all of the people in the Detroit area following the attack on the Jewish synagogue earlier today," he said at the beginning of his remarks at a Women's History Month event at the White House.
An armed suspect was killed after ramming a vehicle into Temple Israel, a synagogue in Oakland County, and exchanging gunfire with security officers. No congregants, staff or students were hurt, though a security guard was injured by the vehicle.
The president called it a "terrible thing," and said he had been "fully briefed" on the situation.
"We're going to be right down to the bottom of it," he said. "It's absolutely incredible that things like this happen."
