President Trump signed an executive order Friday aimed at creating an exclusive national broadcast window for the annual Army–Navy football game, during which "no other college football game" can be broadcast. "We don't want other college football games playing over us," he said at the White House while presenting the Commander-in-Chief's Trophy. "It's such an important tradition of our country. It's beyond football, actually. It's a tradition of our country." The order comes as the College Football Playoff has expanded from four teams to 12, pushing the schedule further into December and raising concerns about potential conflicts with the annual Army–Navy game, traditionally held on the second Saturday of the month. Navy's 17–16 win last year aired at the same time as the LA Bowl between Washington and Boise State, prompting the president's action. The order directs the Federal Communications Commission and Commerce Department to coordinate with the NCAA, College Football Playoff and broadcast partners to prevent scheduling conflicts during the game's traditional time slot. "Nobody's going to play football for four hours during that very special time of the year in December. It's preserved forever for the Army–Navy game," President Trump said. "If you don't want to watch football, you don't have to. But if you want to watch football, you're only watching one game."
